( As a proof of correctness of my approach, I am attaching the order of KSD Sanskrit University, a government university in India recognized by UGC, which decided that the method of my software is correct and should be used for rectifying the almanac published by this university. This university was initially reluctant to listen to me and it had to examine the issue after a high court order, which is mentioned in the scanned copy of VC's order at the bottom of this page. Meetings of scholars were held by the Vice Chancellor for three days, and my standpoint was finally accepted.)accepted. Following is the VC's order after 3 days of debates by experts after a court order. It clearly states the decision :
There"University'sarealmanacthree(panchanga)majoris based upon original Makarand Table, but henceforth it will be published after due reforms by coordinating it with the software developed by Vinay Jha, for which a 3-member committee is being instituted comprising of HOD, one senior (retd) professor andVinay Jha, the HOD Pt Ramchandra Jha is being directed to hold meetings of this committee and publish the almanac thereafter". The HOD Pt Ramchandra Jha agreed to abide by this order, but published the almanac without any reforms, and was later replaced with another scholar as HOD and director of almanac. See below this VC-order some points concerned with verification of Kundall software.
Major impediments in the way of making accurate astrological predictions :
Wrong method of computations for finding true planets, ayanamsha, &c.
Wrong type of year imposed on the Vimshottari Dashā system.
Wrong mentality towards ancient methods, and refusal to test their validity.
The last of these three problems is insurmountable, and resultsinsurmountable.fromAwronghostilitylivlihood, towardswrongancientdietsages and wrong mind. Lack oftheirbrahmacharyaknowledgeandisotheravirtuesmoderncreatemaladyawhichhostilitycannottowardsbeancientcuredsagesbyandmeanstheirofknowledge.preaching. My chief problem is that such persons refuse to test the KUNDALEE software because it is different in some important respects from other softwares. Test of the pudding lies in tasting it. My second problem is that being a lifelong brahmachāri, I cannot sell my software. A freeware is generally viewed as a badware in a philistinemodern society.
Now let us discuss some objective problems. All developers of astrological softwares are applying modern astronomy for computing planetary positions. Very few persons are ready to listen that modern astronomy deals with material objects which coincidentally bear same names as borne by deities known as Graha in Jyotisha, but material planets are quite distinct from the Grahas of Jyotisha. The moment some persons come to know that KUNDALEE software is based upon ancient Surya Siddhanta, they refuse to even test this software or enter into any type of dialogue. Surya-siddhānta provides the only correct method of planetary computations suited to astrology, and the refusal to even test its validity is a result of centuries of tirade against Surya-siddhānta by those believe astrological Grahas to be material planets. Physical astronomy is applicable only to the material universe, while Surya-siddhānta has two aspects : its saur-pakshiya or noumenal computations are meant for astrology, and its drik-pakshiya phenomenal computations are for the sensory world which modern science studies. In order to convince the materialists, I had to waste years on writing a treatise on this little known drik-pakshiya side of Surya-siddhānta. Then, I found that most of the traditional astrologers are not interested in mathematics at all. On the other hand, modernised and enlightened astrologers felt it below their dignity to waste their time over anachronic treatises like Surya-siddhānta. Hence, they missed the only true method fit for astrology.
Another major problem is with the Vimshottari dashā system used for timing events. Not a single astrologer can claim that Vimshottari system of dasā produces satisfactory results beyond Mahādashā and often Antardashā ; only in some rare cases one can go upto the third level (pratyantar-dashā) with satisfaction. The problem lies in imposition of solar year on Vimshottari system, in spite of the fact that it is based upon lunar nakshatras and according to all ancient texts its year must be of 360 days. Solar year is of ~365.25 days, while 360 lunar days make a lunar year of 12 lunar months equal to 354.367 solar years. I have tested this on countless horoscopes for long years, and found that if lunar year of 360 chāndra-dinas (lunar days or tithis) is used in the Vimshottari calculations, and if planetary positions are computed according to ancient method of Surya-siddhānta (different from that propagated by Burgess and his followers), predictions made along the guidelines of BPHS (Brihat-Parāshara-Horāshāstra) and simalar texts is accurate down to days and hours, upto Prāndashā. No ancient text says that solar year should be used for Vimshottari dashā system, and all ancient texts say Vimshottari dashā system should be computed from the Moon. Hence it is logical to expect that lunar year ought to be used here. Yet almost everyone uses solar year, and concludes that astrology is merely an approximate discipline. To date I have seen only one horoscope software which gives the user a choice to select lunar year for Vimshottari dashā system, but even there physical Moon was computed (i.e., from modern astronomy). Unless astrologers and scientists test the validity of my software, the accuracy of Vedic Astrology cannot be proven.Following is the VC's order after 3 days of debates by experts after a court order.
